Greetings all,
On this day, October 28 in 457 AD, the Syrian bisop Ibas of Edessa died:

Most of Ibas’ career was controversial as he was thought to be a Nestorian. His position was challenged as soon as he became bishop and he remained embattled for his entire term.
Interestingly, Ibas did erect a Church of the Apostles in Edessa, to which Byzantine Senators donated a silver table weighing 720 pounds and also a silver chest containing relics of Thomas the Apostle, who had died in Parthia and been buried there.
